Horror aficionados and cult cinema fans rejoice!
This weekend, beginning Friday, September 23, the inaugural Bay of Blood genre film convention will commence its three-day residency at the Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore.
Billed as "Tampa's Horror Weekend," the convention has attracted nearly two dozen stars from three note-worthy genre classics, all released in 1981: "The Burning," "Friday the 13th Part 2" and "My Bloody Valentine."
Each film is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and according to Bay of Blood, "The Burning" cast reunion marks the first time that its stars have gathered together for a round-table panel and convention appearance.
In addition to actors who appeared in all three films, "My Bloody Valentine" director George Mihalka, who introduced horror fans to crazed miner Harry Warden, will be appearing for two days only on Friday, September 23, and Saturday, September 24.
The convention has scheduled high-definition screenings of all three films, plus cast reunion panels for each, as well as reunion photo-ops on Sunday, September 25.
Doors for the main vendor floor open at 5 p.m. on Friday through 10 p.m., and re-open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bay of Blood is hosting a fantastic opportunity for VIP and Weekend Pass ticket-holders on Saturday night -- the first Valentine's Bluff Valentine's Dance in 35 years. The dance is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Holiday Inn with a cash bar, raffle prizes and live DJ. Here's to hoping Harry Warden doesn't find out that locals have once again failed to heed his warning.
VIP tickets are no longer available, but single-day and weekend-pass tickets can be purchased at the door for $35 Friday only, $40 Saturday only and $35 Sunday only with the three-day weekend pass at $65. Advance ticket sales for Cast Reunion Photo-Ops are available online through September 24, and at the Bay of Blood booth inside the convention throughout the weekend.
